About this rating

Raw average: 2.83/5 from 53 quality ratings. The adjusted rating blends this with the UW review average (3.66/5), weighted as 20 additional ratings. Smaller samples stay closer to that average. Each captured review is counted once in the prior; this does not correct who chooses to leave a review.

Prof. Stambach is caring and dedicated. She knows her subject inside and out. Even if you are not a cultural anthropology major, you will get a lot out of this class. Recommend it highly.

I taught myself this class off the online textbook. Her lectures were boring and never had anything to do with the tests. The tests were all on Canvas and 100% based on the online textbook activities. The discussion was cool, and I had a great TA, but you can get an A in this class without ever going to lecture.

Quality 3/5Difficulty 1/5
This class was very boring but an easy A. Lectures are not required and all exams, quizzes, and even the final were online on your own time, and open note. There was a lot of busywork involved for discussions... the assignments were pretty easy but took up a lot of time outside of class just because of how long they were.

ANTHRO 104
Quality 3/5Difficulty 1/5
Lectures are very slow and boring, but easily skippable if you read the textbook (1 chapter per week) and take mediocre notes. Tests are online (2 attempts each). Workload is pretty significant (3 major projects, 3 reading responses), only because there is a lot of busy work. Expect to write 1000-1500 words per assignment.

Had tech issues every lecture, and relied on TAs to fix it. Boring lectures, and super skippable classes so that is a bonus. However, assignments didn't have much to do with lecture and assigned a lot of busy work that took forever and was not worth many points.

Very easy to skip... She is clearly enthusiastic about Anthropology but if you aren't then the class is a bore.
