Prof. Bitzan was my favorite instructor of the semester. His passion and knowledge was truly inspiring. This course had a heavy reading load, but it was necessary to understand the material. You're graded mostly on papers and class participation, so come to class because you'll need the participation points and having the lecture notes makes writing the papers a breeze. It's a lot of reading though so stay on top of it. The papers are graded by a TA and as long as you do exactly as the outline says you'll get an A on them.Rate My Professors ↗
It's a 500 level history seminar, so it's obvs 80+ pages of reading a week. That being said, there were lots of non-majors in my class and they did fine. He really expects you to come to class having critically analyzed the reading so do that. He's a really great guy and offered a lot of insight into the subject. Very interesting small class on antisemitism, with a bright young professor. There is a huge amount of reading as is customary in these types of classes. This class will only get better as it's offered more often.Rate My Professors ↗
He was a very clear professor, and really concerned about how the students performed in the class. If you went to class and made an effort to show you understood the reading, the class should be easy. There is a lot of reading, and I wouldn't recommend doing everyone, as some are repetitive.
