I took this as a hybrid class, we never did any lecture content during our in person class. We had to read the lecture (not watch) on our own and either had project workdays or did small activities during the in person time. Stang is very nice and accessible outside of class, just didn't like the structure of this class.
As others have said, this class is extremely memorization-based and all learning is done on your own. Very little is covered during in-person lectures and she does not manage time great, often leaving only 15 minutes or less for group project work. However, the class is well-structured, with clear expectations for lecture and group project pacing.
She is very caring and nice, but I didn't love the class. All the material was online and the one class a week was a discussion, not a lecture. I also felt like most of the material was just a matter of memorizing a ton of vocab, a lot of which was too niche and hardly generally applicable to marketing and consumer behavior. It's manageable though.
This class is fine, but I wouldn't take again with her. All lecture material is done on your own and the class period is spent either doing exercises or working on a group project. Nice that she gives class time to do group project work.
Subject should be interesting but you have to teach yourself everything off her boring slide decks that she expects you to have memorized for the exams (nothing tested on is covered during class). Very vague with instructions for the group project and she wouldn't answer the simplest questions because she "can't pregrade." Overall bad professor.
Instructor Stang was very passionate about consumer behavior. My favorite part about her lectures was her personal experiences that she could relate to the objectives being discussed. As long as you show up and keep up, this class is very manageable. The semester-long group project was often arduous, but it gets better.
Very boring, basically just memorizing definitions. Usual online busy work discussion and activities. Project is a large percentage of your grade and expectations are unclear
I have had Professor Stang for 2 classes now, Market Research and Consumer Behavior. She is really passionate about marketing and teaching. She cares about her students, but it is up to you to make the effort to connect with her. Choose your group for the project wisely and check in throughout the semester to get a good grade.
The lectures are incredibly boring and the grading criteria incomprehensible.
Professor Stangs lectures are incredibly boring. She does a poor job of making the subject remotely interesting, which is difficult considering she teaches marketing. Her class format essentially teaches you to memorize terms and definitions which, while easy, makes the topics even more dull. I have taken two classes with Stang and regretted both.
Professor Stang cares about the subject matter and her students, but unfortunately is extremely dull in lectures. Definitely utilize her offer of constant availability, especially with questions on the project. Make sure to pick a good group for the project, as a bad one will make it stressful.
She is a good professor and clearly has a passion for Market Research, but struggles to connect with her students. Her lecture format is fairly boring and hard to pay attention to, but it is not due to a lack of effort. The group project was fairly easy and was graded even easier.
Does not focus too much on the book, and the project is not too hard. Liked it to boost my GPA.
"Blah" is the best way to describe professor Stang and her class. Despite her enthusiasm for the subject her lectures are painfully boring. There is a semester-long group project that requires a lot of work. On the upside, Professor Stang is extremely available for help/advice, as she allows you to text her with questions. No final exam.
Great professor, easy to get along with. 50% group project (broken into more manageable parts), two 20% midterms. Lecture/exams are straight out of the textbook, which can make class a bit boring and redundant. The project is interesting - she's a straightforward and easier grader. Overall, liked this class: not super stressful and very enjoyable
