I never actually took NE425 with Couet but "PhD dissertation" wasn't a course option. Couet required that my justifications of all theory/calculations were rigorous but not excessively as to be impossible, so "difficult but not in excess". any worthwhile PhD is a bit difficult. I graduated in a reasonable period (A+). 10/10 would recommend.

Professor Couet is a very interesting professor to listen to. His class requires a little bit of autonomy and efforts outside of class, but it allows to dive into very interesting material. I also encourage people to look at some other classes taught by Professor Adrien Couet that are not listed on Rate My Professor such as NE541 or NE545.

Adrien is an amazing professor and really supports his students in all of their education. I've worked with him for over 5+ years of grad school and he's tough but fair and he works incredibly hard to really teach people, he truly deserves a 10 out of 5, I've met a lot of professors, but Adrien stands far above any others.

Lots of material is covered and it's important to have the prerequisites taken care of, but you can tell Prof. Couet is very knowledgable and has a vested interest in his students understanding the underlying material.

NE 423 Nuclear Engineering Materials is suppose to be difficult. If you put in the work, you can learn a lot from the course. Dr. Couet is clearly an expert on the subject and he goes above and beyond to help students, but you have to reach out. Just be ready to treat it as a 4 credit course.
