Let's be honest, O-chem is not an easy subject. However, he graded all the tests fairly, and gave at least one practice exam before each test. The practice tests were just like the actual tests so they were extremely helpful. I would definitely take him again.Rate My Professors ↗
His lecture notes are very easy to follow as he doesn't go to fast through lecture, however he does speak rather quietly. His practice exams are very helpful and he says he writes three exams for each test, picks one to use as the actual exam and then lets you use the other two as practice exams so you know what to expect. Professor Mccoy was an excellent organic chemistry teacher. Lectures are fairly interesting but a little bit too fast and lacked demos. Problem sets were very represented of what we needed to know for the exams. Grading was fair and curved. Everything was available online, lectures, keys to problem sets, practice exams. McCoy was awesome. Absolutely would have him for an organic course again. He gives a ton of material to help you prepare for exams (which is all the class is graded on), is really clear in lecture and helpful in office hours.
