Course Description

Cancer affects an estimated one in four companion animals, making a solid foundation in oncology essential for veterinarians entering small animal practice. Gain the knowledge and skills necessary to approach the management of animals with cancer from initial presentation and diagnosis through treatment planning and delivery always in alignment with the goals of the pet owner. Refine core clinical skills including physical restraint, physical examination, venipuncture and blood sampling, fine needle aspiration, and effective client communication. Participate in diagnostic and therapeutic decision-making and practice the clinical reasoning processes fundamental to oncology.
