  • Develop critical thinking and analytical abilities in the area of language variation and sociolinguistics as related to the topic of Spanish in the United States.

  • Develop analytical skills to assess critically different claims about how language is used, and how it varies according to social and linguistic factors (using specific examples from Spanish).
