Student experience

the class

Consider key paradigms of environmental thought, including political ecology, ecomodernism, ecosocialism, and ecofascism. In light of environmental degradation and crisis, investigate how these conceptual lenses offer divergent diagnoses of and prescriptions for environmental harm. Investigate the ways in which environmentally related domination and inequity may be linked to the legacies of racism, colonialism, and gender hierarchy. Analyze whether and in what way these forms of domination and inequity can be conceptualized as environmental injustices. Finally, explore different drivers of and impediments to environmental political action, ranging from environmental social movements and calls for climate justice, to climate denialism and potentially apathy-inducing phenomena like eco-anxiety.
