Summary

What you’ll be able to do

  • Describe production and management practices of fruit and vegetable crops including planting systems, crop nutrition, irrigation, pruning, training, harvest, processing, and frost management.

  • Explain fruit and vegetable crop botanical features, physiological growth characteristics and climatic requirements.

  • Apply scientific principles of plant physiology to make horticultural production management decisions.

  • Analyze the causes of and solutions for the sustainability challenges of worldwide fruit and vegetable crop production.

  • Explain how the biological aspects of vegetable plants, including their physiology and genetics, dictate how these crops will be produced in different world regions.

  • Analyze the nutritional profile, culinary characteristics, and important metabolites that are found in vegetable plants for defensive and attractant purposes.

  • Design a project that highlights an in-depth aspect of fruit and vegetable crop science.

About this rating

Raw average: 4.71/5 from 35 quality ratings. The adjusted rating blends this with the UW review average (3.66/5), weighted as 20 additional ratings. Smaller samples stay closer to that average. Each captured review is counted once in the prior; this does not correct who chooses to leave a review.
