What you’ll be able to do

• Demonstrate systems literacy by producing a brief analytic report that maps the defining features of the four dominant global models (Beveridge, Bismarck, National Health Insurance, Out of Pocket) and benchmarks U.S. system performance against at least three agreed upon indicators (e.g., access, cost, population health outcomes).

• Analyze how historical policy choices and current economic, political, and social forces shape U.S. care delivery and translate that insight into practice by designing a two step, clinic feasible plan that addresses at least three social drivers of health.

• Define three performance dimensions - effectiveness, efficiency, and equity - explaining how U.S. financing arrangements (e.g., fee for service, capitation, global budgets, value based payment) shape these dimensions across delivery settings.

• Apply financial management concepts to a PT service or business.

• Compare defining features of at least five US health care sectors (e.g., CHCs/safety net, mental health, integrative medicine, long term care, primary care, emergency medicine, public/population health) in terms of patient populations, service providers, financing, and regulation, and evaluate sector specific challenges related to personnel, organization, technology, and financial sustainability.

• Discuss how historical "siloed" training and delivery structures developed along with how training or service delivery redesign that advances effectiveness, efficiency, and equity through greater interprofessional integration and incorporation of public and population health principles.

• Demonstrate foundational leadership and management competence by identifying and describing at least three leadership models and key management skills, and developing an organizational structure appropriate for a proposed project or business idea.

• Explain key concepts in health informatics, health information systems, and emerging technologies (including artificial intelligence and large language models) and demonstrate their relevance to physical therapy practice by accurately describing at least three practical applications of these technologies in day to day PT care (e.g., documentation, decision support, workflow efficiency).

• Apply principles of quality management - including clinical performance outcomes, quality improvement methods, customer experience metrics, and operational outcomes - to evaluate or design a PT service process.

• Describe at least three non traditional or niche PT practice areas, including their origins and relevance to the evolving PT scope of practice.

• Create a comprehensive strategic plan for a PT related project, business, or niche practice idea that includes a mission statement, goals, objectives, SWOT analysis, marketing approach, operations plan, facilities considerations, and fiscal plan.
