Describe the role of the pathology laboratories and pathologists in patient care
Describe the specimen requirements, processing, and workup of patient samples in the pathology laboratory area in which they rotated
Demonstrate increased facility with the underlying basic science knowledge required for these areas (eg histology, anatomy, molecular biology, microbiology, etc.)
Independently assess patient materials and construct a differential diagnosis of the disease process involved
Communicate and collaborate with consultants and/or primary clinical team and other providers to coordinate care
Review, interpret and present current literature to support the diagnostic workup
