Intermediate Harp provides individual instruction for students pursuing harp, focusing on technique, repertoire interpretation, and performance skills.
Identify and strategically address technical issues related to hand and body positioning.
Apply technique to achieve evenness, warm tone, rhythmic integrity, facility and clean playing.
Interpret and execute accurate fingerings, pedaling, muffling, extended techniques, articulation and dynamic scope.
Indicate contextual understanding of repertoire studied, including composer background, historical context, and music theory.
Employ a variety of practice techniques to improve creative problem solving.
Mitigate performance anxiety using breath, positive self-talk, mock performances, mindfulness, visualization and thorough preparation.
Demonstrate wide ranges of character, atmosphere, and musical phrasing that produce sound appropriate for the emotional content of the music.
