Summary
What you’ll be able to do
Use basic capacity evaluation and diagnostic tools to assess elders for common geriatric syndromes.
Practice inpatient management of these syndromes, and strategies for improving care transitions.
Recognize and address polypharmacy and learn prescribing techniques that are appropriate for the patient's age.
Develop basic strategies for holding goals of care conversations, and how to structure a multi-disciplinary plan of care.
Become familiar with how medical decision-making capacity is assessed and the diagnostic tools used to determine capacity.
Develop skills to improve the functional trajectory of the older patient through a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach.
