What you’ll be able to do

  • Identify and describe personal values and beliefs related to patient advocacy.

  • Identify how racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ablism and other forms of oppression impact clients and the delivery of health care in the US.

  • Communicate effectively in writing and in conversation to a range of audiences including patients.

  • Recognize opportunities for advocacy in individual client situations.

  • Design effective advocacy plans to address client needs.

  • Recognize ethical dilemmas and develop informed plans for ethical practice.
