What you’ll be able to do
Explain the physical, chemical, and biological processes controlling the transport of subsurface contaminants.
Apply mathematical expressions for analytically describing solute, colloid, and multiphase flow in porous and fractured media.
Interpret and synthesize scientific literature and technical reports to create subsurface flow and transport models of specific case studies.
Analyze the causes of, and solutions for, the sustainability challenge of natural and anthropogenic contaminants in the subsurface.
Explain the social, economic, and/or environmental dimensions of the sustainability challenges relevant to the protection of groundwater resources from contamination.
Create and evaluate a subsurface flow and transport model related to their graduate research or another specific environmental problem.
