Recent recorded grades — Spring 2020: 3.62 GPA, 76.9% A/AB (n=13 letter grades); Spring 2022: 3.88 GPA, 100.0% A/AB (n=8 letter grades); Spring 2026: 3.71 GPA, 85.7% A/AB (n=7 letter grades).

What you’ll be able to do

  • Describe qualitatively and quantitatively the chemical and physical processes that are involved in the production, transportation, and deposition of sediments.

  • Describe how sediment composition and sedimentary structures reflect sediment production and transport processes.

  • Characterize sedimentary depositional environments and deposits formed in them.

  • Enumerate sedimentary basin types and qualitatively compare and contrast their stratigraphic successions.

  • Critique primary scientific literature.

  • Extract and evaluate data from scientific papers and online databases.

  • Produce new synthetic results in written form.

  • Produce a regional macrostratigraphic summary for a focal region and present quantitative results in poster form.

About this rating

Raw average: 4.38/5 from 96 quality ratings. The adjusted rating blends this with the UW review average (3.66/5), weighted as 20 additional ratings. Smaller samples stay closer to that average. Each captured review is counted once in the prior; this does not correct who chooses to leave a review.
