Course Description

Provides support, processes, and tools for advancing graduate research and refining individual research topics. Adjust and refine goals of a research topic to maximize the impact of doctoral research and learn how to navigate the shifting landscape of research throughout doctoral studies. Boost emerging graduate research plans by gaining operations skills in independent knowledge acquisition and technical skills in basic computational biology. Activities include shaping a research question, identifying barriers in the research process, building a reference bibliography of relevant background literature, using databases and other electronic resources that inform research, and operating basic tools to determine gene function.
