Emphasizes program comprehension, reading and tracing unfamiliar code, and reasoning carefully about behavior. Topics include variables and expressions; control flow; arrays and strings; methods and modular design; introductory object-oriented programming; basic testing and debugging strategies; and file I/O. Interpret specifications, analyze existing code for correctness, and construct small programs that demonstrate clear structure and documentation. Learn foundational exposure to inheritance, recursion, and interfaces in preparation for further study in data structures and algorithms.
